Senior Data Engineer (Business Intelligence)

Location: Chicago, United States; hybrid workstyle aligned to an hirify.global office, with up to 20% travel.

Salary: $88,900–$168,300 annually, plus discretionary bonus eligibility.

What you will do

• Create and maintain dimensional and 3NF data models aligned with business requirements.
• Design and develop ETL pipelines that consolidate multiple source systems into unified data platforms, including source-to-target mappings, business rules, and transformations.
• Develop semantic models, reports, and dashboards based on business requirements.
• Facilitate requirements sessions and conduct data analysis to identify data needed for business objectives.
• Collaborate with clients and team members across regions in office, virtual, and independent work settings.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Math, Computer Science, Information Systems, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Analytics.
• At least 3 years of experience designing data models across multiple subject areas and business domains.
• At least 3 years of experience designing and developing business intelligence solutions.
• At least 3 years of experience designing and developing scalable data pipelines to ingest, transform, and load data from multiple sources into data lakes and data warehouses.
• Proficiency in SQL and experience with Python or Scala.
• Experience with major cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure, AWS, or GCP; data platforms such as Fabric, Databricks, or Snowflake; and Git, DevOps, CI/CD, and version control.
• Experience with BI visualization tools such as Power BI, QuickSight, or Tableau.
• Strong written and verbal communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
• Team-oriented, with the ability to work independently and in virtual teams; willing and able to travel up to 20%.

Nice to have

• Experience conducting solution or technical assessments.
• Experience with dbt, Spark, and big data technologies.
• Knowledge of Databricks.
• Working knowledge of information management tools such as Collibra, Informatica, Talend, Alation, or Purview.
