Assistant Controller (AI)

Location: On-site in Redwood City, California, United States. Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States; new work visa sponsorship is not provided.

Expected compensation: $150K–$175K annual salary plus equity and benefits.

hirify.global is building Software Factory, an AI-native platform where people and AI agents take enterprise software from business intent to production code with documentation, oversight and audit trails for regulated industries.

What you will do

• Own monthly, quarterly and annual close activities, including close calendars, journal entries, reconciliations, flux analysis and core accounting processes.
• Prepare financial statements and board and investor reporting packages.
• Lead the roadmap from unaudited financial statements to private-company and eventually public-company audits; serve as the primary external audit contact.
• Design and document scalable accounting policies and internal controls, including preparation toward SOX readiness.
• Build early equity administration foundations, including cap table maintenance, grants, exercises and stock-based compensation accounting, with Legal, People and external advisors.
• Improve the ERP and finance technology stack, use automation and AI tools, and partner with FP&A, Legal, People and business teams while helping build the future accounting team.

Requirements

• Active CPA license.
• 7+ years of accounting experience, including at least 3 years in public accounting; Big Four or national firm experience at senior or manager level is preferred.
• 2+ years in a controllership or accounting leadership role at a high-growth or venture-backed company.
• Strong command of US GAAP, especially ASC 606, with hands-on month-end close and external audit leadership experience.
• Working knowledge of stock-based compensation under ASC 718 and willingness to learn the operational side of equity administration.
• High attention to detail, sound judgment and the ability to explain complex accounting matters to non-accountants.
• Builder mentality, comfort with ambiguity, and willingness to establish processes from scratch while remaining hands-on.

Nice to have

• Experience in software, SaaS or AI companies, including usage-based or services revenue.
• Exposure to SOX readiness, pre-IPO controls or multi-entity consolidation.
• Experience with modern ERP systems such as NetSuite and close-automation tools, plus enthusiasm for using AI in finance workflows.
