Project Engineer II - Transmission

Location: Houston, Texas, United States; full-time onsite role.

Salary: Project Engineer III pay range of $120,000–$180,000 per year, depending on job, responsibility, location, and job-related qualifications.

What you will do

• Lead, coordinate, and develop transmission line designs for greenfield and brownfield projects, including PLS-CADD modeling, structural analysis, design criteria, and wire selection.
• Support proposal development and serve as the technical lead for transmission line projects.
• Perform QA reviews and mentor less experienced engineers and designers.
• Estimate labor, material, and construction costs.
• Conduct field inspections and route evaluations and provide construction support.
• Prepare construction bid documents, review contracts, specifications, and bids, and provide recommendations.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited engineering program.
• 5+ years of transmission line engineering experience in the electric utility industry.
• Experience developing plan and profile drawings, structure loading and analysis for wood, steel, and concrete poles or towers, sag-tension calculations, conductor clearance analysis, and foundation designs for transmission structures.
• Knowledge of route selection, environmental considerations, permitting procedures, right-of-way, property lines, and easements.
• Familiarity with NESC, ASCE, IEEE, AISC, ACI, ASTM, and RUS specifications.
• Proficiency in PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, PLS-TOWER, and SAG10.
• Experience with LPile and RISA 3D or RISA Foundation.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to supervise and train new team members.

Nice to have

• Experience designing 69kV to 500kV transmission lines and working knowledge of Power Line Systems design software.
• Experience with renewable energy integration and grid modernization projects.
• P.E. license or ability to obtain one within the specified timeframe.
