Project Engineer (Electric Transmission Line)

Location: Hybrid, with remote work and an assigned work location within the PG&E Service Territory; Oakland, California. Travel to project-related functions is required approximately 20% of the time.

Annual salary: $120,888–$183,840 USD, depending on locality and individual qualifications.

What you will do

• Lead engineering and design for complex electric transmission line projects using independent judgment with minimal supervision.
• Perform engineering analyses, technical studies, conceptual designs, and root cause analyses.
• Prepare design criteria, scope documents, specifications, technical reports, drawings, and revisions.
• Present findings, conduct walkdowns and design reviews, and provide technical guidance to contractors and outside vendors.
• Develop, evaluate, and recommend project alternatives; solicit and assess engineering consultant contracts and proposals.
• Interpret applicable codes and regulations, support restoration planning, respond to facility failures, and represent PG&E before government bodies.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited curriculum in the US or an equivalent degree from outside the US.
• At least 3 years of cumulative experience in engineering and design.
• Ability to independently plan work, resolve problems of moderate scope, apply engineering principles, and meet assigned objectives.
• Ability to collaborate with engineers, project managers, construction personnel, contractors, vendors, and other business partners.
• Ability to travel to project-related functions approximately 20% of the time.

Nice to have

• EIT certificate or current California PE license.
• Strong familiarity with G.O. 95, NESC, and PG&E transmission and distribution line standards and construction practices.
• Strong familiarity with transmission line engineering tools such as PLS-CADD and PLS-POLE.
• Experience in project management.
