Director, People Business Partner (Fintech)

Location: Hybrid in San Francisco, United States; at least 3 days in the office, with attendance expectations confirmed by the Hiring Manager. Travel required 5–10% of the time.

Salary: $173,000–$276,900 USD per year, with potential bonus, equity, and sales incentive payments where applicable.

What you will do

• Serve as the primary people business partner to senior leaders across multiple Global Product teams.
• Translate business priorities into workforce, organizational, succession, and leadership development strategies.
• Identify organizational risks, talent gaps, and capability needs, and deliver data-informed solutions.
• Lead end-to-end organization design covering structures, spans, layers, role clarity, decision rights, and operating models.
• Lead change management for restructures, leadership transitions, cultural integration, and other organizational transformations.
• Partner with People M&A and People Team Centers of Excellence on post-merger integration, talent processes, inclusion, and integrated people solutions.

Requirements

• At least 10 years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree, or at least 8 years with an Advanced Degree, or at least 3 years with a PhD.
• Broad HR generalist experience across talent management, organizational development, employee relations, and compensation strategy.
• Experience as an embedded HR business partner supporting functional or regional leadership teams in a complex, matrixed organization.
• Demonstrated experience leading organization redesign, not only participating in redesign initiatives.
• Ability to influence without authority, build coalitions, and drive outcomes through partnership.
• Ability to operate effectively in ambiguity and take ownership of outcomes.
• Experience with organizational effectiveness tools and frameworks, including organization analysis, operating model design, and workforce planning.
• Proficiency with Microsoft tools, including PowerPoint, Excel, and Copilot, for executive-facing presentations and materials.

Nice to have

• 12 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree, or 8–10 years with an Advanced Degree, or 6 or more years with a PhD.
• Digital fluency with GenAI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, and Copilot.
• Experience in M&A people due diligence or post-merger integration.
• Background in technology, fintech, or payments.
• Strong business acumen, intellectual curiosity, and awareness of fintech talent, organization design, and people innovation trends.
