Senior Product Manager, Authorization Optimization (Payments)

Location: United States (Remote)

Base salary: $145,000–$205,000 annually, depending on US pay zone. Equity: 7,000 stock options. Annual performance bonus: up to 10% of base salary.

What you will do

• Own the authorization optimization roadmap, prioritization, delivery sequencing, tradeoffs, and communication with leadership, engineering, and go-to-market teams.
• Define APIs, data models, technical specifications, user stories, acceptance criteria, and integration points connecting merchants, PSPs, issuers, and the platform.
• Build issuer/BIN intelligence, opportunity mapping, and issuer-specific decisioning for step-ups, 3DS, decline recovery, intelligent retries, and routing.
• Partner with data science on risk-aware decisioning that balances approval gains against fraud and chargeback exposure.
• Develop partnerships with PSPs, gateways, acquirers, issuers, and data or technology providers.
• Measure authorization uplift and recovered merchant revenue, support merchant proofs of value, and incorporate feedback from sales, solutions, and customer success.

Requirements

• 5+ years of product management experience, including roadmap ownership and end-to-end delivery.
• Hands-on payments product experience spanning issuer authorization behavior, including decline recovery and retries, 3DS, PSD2/SCA, the upcoming PSD3/PSR transition, and demonstrated authorization-performance improvements.
• Experience writing detailed technical specifications and defining APIs or data interfaces with engineering; backend or high-volume transaction systems experience is a plus.
• Strong analytical skills, including transaction-level data analysis and success-metric definition.
• Experience working with data science or analytics teams and translating insights into product requirements.
• Ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders without direct authority.
• Clear written and verbal communication with technical and non-technical audiences.

Nice to have

• Experience at a payment processor, PSP, acquirer, card network, issuer, or fraud/risk vendor.
• Exposure to fraud, risk, or digital identity products, including false-decline versus fraud-loss tradeoffs.
• Experience defining requirements for ML-driven decisioning.
• Familiarity with 3DS/EMVCo, tokenization, ISO 8583, and PSD2/SCA.
• B2B SaaS or enterprise e-commerce merchant experience.
