Senior Product Manager, Payments Gateway

What you will do

• Own the multi-year strategy and roadmap for modular, scalable, multi-tenant gateways supporting card, bank, and alternative payment methods.
• Improve authorization and payment success rates, decline and retry performance, uptime, latency, and processing cost through connection optimization, failover, smart retries, tokenization, account updater, 3DS, authentication flows, and B2B card data.
• Define gateway APIs, SDKs, hosted payment pages, webhooks, and merchant and MID configuration for internal product teams and external partners.
• Lead processor, acquirer, and network evaluations, certifications, integrations, and launches while translating network mandates into requirements and maintaining compliance.
• Own authorization, capture, refunds, voids, disputes, chargebacks, settlement, and the handoff of transaction data to ledger and reconciliation.
• Lead engineering execution, architectural trade-offs, platform reliability, and AI applications for retry optimization, decline analysis, anomaly detection, incident triage, and partner integration support.

Requirements

• 6+ years of payments or fintech product management experience, including at least 3 years owning a payment gateway, processing, orchestration, or PSP platform end to end.
• Experience building or significantly scaling a gateway in production, rather than only integrating a third-party gateway.
• Deep expertise in authorization flows, ISO 8583, tokenization, capture and settlement, chargebacks, interchange, failover, and their effect on merchants and cost.
• A measurable record of improving authorization rates, processing cost, uptime, or latency.
• Experience with North American and international payments, multi-currency processing, local payment methods, PCI DSS, PSD2/SCA, and card brand rules.
• Experience leading engineering pods or squads as product owner, setting priorities, removing blockers, making architectural trade-offs, and delivering against commitments.
• Hands-on experience applying LLMs, ML, or agentic systems to payment workflows, with a clear point of view on appropriate and inappropriate gateway use cases.
• Entrepreneurial, action-oriented approach and comfort with ambiguity and net-new initiatives.
