Senior IT Systems Engineer (AI)

Location: Oakland, California, United States; hybrid schedule with required office days on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday and work-from-home option on Tuesday and Friday.

Salary: $184,000–$229,000 per year.

What you will do

• Serve as the most senior technical escalation point for complex IT issues.
• Lead cross-functional IT initiatives and manage build-versus-buy-versus-self-host analyses.
• Deploy, maintain, automate, and improve scalable, resilient, and secure IT infrastructure.
• Develop relationships with Engineering to bridge technical gaps.
• Mentor the IT team through reusable templates, modular code, and best practices.
• Test and deploy new software platforms, AI-native tools, and workflows.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in IT, Systems Engineering, or DevOps.
• Authorization to work in the United States; hirify.global does not sponsor U.S. employment visas for this role.
• Experience deploying and operating self-hosted applications on AWS with Terraform.
• GitOps-first approach with experience developing CI/CD pipelines and writing tests.
• Experience with Okta SSO, Google Workspace, and management of Mac, Windows, and Ubuntu Linux systems.
• Strong scripting and code-based workflow automation skills.
• Deep understanding of authentication, authorization, API security, and MCP security.
• Experience with AI-native tools, including Claude Code, and strong network management skills, preferably in Cisco Meraki environments.
• Ability to manage mid-to-large IT projects, collaborate cross-functionally, anticipate and mitigate friction, and mentor teammates.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of Bash, Python, PowerShell, or other scripting languages.
• Experience supporting cloud-based IT infrastructure for a globally distributed company.
• Experience with audio/video systems such as Zoom and Google Meet.
• Familiarity with Ubuntu Linux laptop environments.
• Ability to perform work after hours when necessary.
