Senior Software Engineer (AI)

Location: McLean, Virginia, United States. Work model: On-site.

Base salary: $125,000–$250,000 USD per year. A discretionary bonus may be awarded based on individual and company performance.

What you will do

• Write clean, reliable, well-tested code for critical services and new projects.
• Use agentic software tools responsibly to improve development efficiency while maintaining engineering quality.
• Lead high-impact projects in small teams and collaborate with internal engineering stakeholders on designs and feedback.
• Conduct architecture and code reviews focused on performance, maintainability, and security.
• Build resilient continuous delivery pipelines and align infrastructure requirements with platform deployment goals.
• Modernize cloud-native infrastructure using Kubernetes, Crossplane, and AWS Managed Services; document systems, create runbooks, and participate in incident response when needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 3+ years of professional software development experience building enterprise-scale applications.
• Proficiency in at least one modern programming language, such as Python, Go, or Java.
• Solid foundational understanding of AWS, Azure, or GCP for building scalable, serverless, or cloud-native applications.
• Excellent spoken and written communication skills and a collaborative problem-solving approach.
• Ability to obtain or maintain an active Secret-level clearance based on a DoD Tier 3 investigation to access IL4/IL5 environments.

Nice to have

• Hands-on expertise with Kubernetes, Crossplane, and Terraform.
• Experience on infrastructure or platform teams supporting high-volume, mission-critical production services.
• Proficiency with scripting languages such as Bash or Python.
• Experience with AWS Managed Services, including EKS, MSK, ElastiCache, or RDS.
