IT Systems Engineer (AI)

Location: San Francisco, United States; hybrid

Annual base salary: $187,000–$266,000, plus equity, performance-related bonuses for eligible employees, and benefits.

What you will do

• Engineer and operate enterprise platforms using Terraform and infrastructure as code, including reusable modules, resource imports, configuration drift detection, access controls, and automated validation and deployment.
• Design and maintain integrations across Google Workspace, GCP, Slack, Jira, service-management tools, ChatGPT Enterprise, and other enterprise applications using APIs, OAuth clients, service accounts, and monitoring.
• Build internal tools, self-service workflows, administrative utilities, cross-application processes, and AI or agent workflows supporting routine operations, user migrations, and M&A integrations.
• Develop ChatGPT Enterprise administration through APIs and infrastructure as code, and provide Customer Zero feedback to product teams.
• Implement platform controls, validate access, sharing, integration, and logging behavior, and document evidence and exceptions for security and policy owners.
• Plan monitored rollouts with rollback and support ownership, participate in on-call rotation, troubleshoot end-user issues, and coordinate escalations.

Requirements

• Experience engineering enterprise platforms at scale, including configuration, permissions, troubleshooting, application integrations, API-based automation, and tools used by employees or IT teams.
• Experience using AI and agents or agentic automations to improve workflows, applications, and processes with attention to permissions, reliability, and verification.
• Ability to troubleshoot across applications, identity, permissions, provisioning, networking, and APIs using evidence to isolate problems and restore service.
• Strong hands-on Terraform and infrastructure-as-code experience, including reusable modules, state management, resource imports, plan review, automated validation and deployment, maintainable code, and API-based automation.
• Ability to independently own complex systems improvements while supporting operational responsibilities, prioritizing incidents and end-user escalations, communicating clearly, and maintaining service continuity.
• Understanding of GCP fundamentals relevant to enterprise applications, including OAuth clients, service accounts, IAM, secrets, and audit logging, with the ability to explain tradeoffs to engineering and security specialists.

Nice to have

• Jira Service Management or Atlassian workflow engineering, automation, and integrations.
• ChatGPT Enterprise administration, administrative APIs or Terraform providers, or operational experience with Notion and Linear.
• Experience implementing and testing collaboration controls, producing audit evidence, and improving platform configuration or monitoring at scale.
