Staff Data Engineer (BI)

Location: 100% remote within the United States; the position is based in Salt Lake City, Utah and reports to headquarters in Murray, Utah.

Salary: $116,917–$150,000 per year.

What you will do

• Onboard data sources for reporting and analytics and translate ambiguous requirements from Finance, Marketing, Product, managers, and executives into scalable BI solutions.
• Define and govern KPIs across teams and reporting layers while supporting the BI platform strategy, performance, scalability, and governance of MicroStrategy environments.
• Develop and modify MicroStrategy reports, dashboards, metrics, filters, graphs, charts, and other BI applications.
• Design logical data models, including star schemas, 3NF, dimensional models, attributes, hierarchies, facts, and schema objects.
• Develop testing, validation, reconciliation, documentation, end-user training, and technical support processes for BI applications.
• Work with data scientists to manipulate data for predicting and measuring outcomes and consequences of design.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or U.S. equivalent in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or a related field, plus 4 years of professional experience as a Business Intelligence Analyst or in a role involving relational databases, complex SQL queries, and MicroStrategy reporting in an enterprise environment.
• 4 years of professional experience developing MicroStrategy reports and dashboards, including metrics, filters, and dashboards.
• 4 years of professional experience designing and implementing logical data models in MicroStrategy, including attributes, hierarchies, facts, and schema objects.
• 4 years of professional experience developing and optimizing complex SQL queries using window functions, common table expressions, multi-table joins, aggregations, and subqueries.
• 4 years of professional experience validating and reconciling data, identifying and resolving discrepancies between source systems and reporting outputs.
• 3 years of professional experience with cloud data platforms such as GCP, AWS, or Azure, including querying large datasets and supporting BI workloads.
• 2 years of professional experience with relational data models and data warehouse environments such as BigQuery or Snowflake, including fact and dimension structures and partitioned tables.
• The role requires sitting, standing, general office functions, occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds, and frequent bending, stooping, and reaching.
