Principal Software Engineer (Encryption)

Location: Remote, office, or hybrid; hiring is available in any country where hirify.global has a legal entity. Interviews and onboarding are conducted virtually.

What you will do

• Tackle complex engineering problems from technical design through launch.
• Deliver solutions used by other engineering teams and products.
• Define plans for large projects and address complex architecture challenges.
• Lead code reviews, documentation, and complex bug fixes involving high-risk problems.
• Partner across engineering teams on company-wide initiatives spanning multiple projects.
• Mentor junior engineers and transfer expertise across programming languages.

Requirements

• 12+ years of experience in multiple hands-on software or technology leadership roles, with end-to-end responsibility across the software development lifecycle.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, preferably in Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
• Expertise in at least one prominent language such as Java, Python, Kotlin, Go, or Scala, plus experience with at least one additional language.
• Hands-on experience building encryption, key management, or other security-critical systems at scale.
• Strong cloud security expertise with hands-on experience on public cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Understanding of SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS and large-scale distributed systems.
• Ability to evaluate trade-offs between security, correctness, robustness, performance, space, and time.
• Experience mentoring engineers, influencing decision makers, considering customer impact in technical decisions, and working with CI and CD.
