Senior Software Engineer (Ransomware Collections)

Location: Remote within the USA, with the listed location in Boston, Massachusetts.

Base salary: $129,000–$193,500 per year. The position may also include incentive compensation, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

• Own and improve ransomware collection capabilities for reliability, coverage, timeliness, and intelligence value.
• Expand collection beyond leak sites into user-focused sources, relevant actors, communities, infrastructure, identities, and relationships.
• Translate intelligence requirements and investigative questions into scalable technical collection capabilities with ransomware analysts.
• Develop automated access strategies for sources affected by authentication, anti-automation controls, infrastructure changes, and other access challenges.
• Build infrastructure to discover, access, monitor, and preserve difficult-to-collect intelligence at scale while reducing manual intervention.
• Establish production engineering patterns, collaborate across engineering and analysis teams, and provide technical leadership and mentorship.

Requirements

• Senior-level software engineering experience building reliable systems against unstable or intentionally difficult-to-automate sources.
• Strong collection engineering experience and the ability to connect technical collection decisions to higher-confidence intelligence.
• Comfort working across cloud infrastructure, distributed collection services, browser automation, and specialized network environments.
• Experience or ability to work with Python, Go, or JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Experience or ability to work with AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, S3, PostgreSQL, Redis, and distributed caching or storage systems.
• Knowledge of HTTP-based collectors, headless browsers, Playwright/Selenium-style tooling, and authenticated session management.
• Knowledge of TOR, proxies, SOCKS, VPNs, distributed egress, queue- and event-driven processing, CI/CD, automated testing, observability, and production monitoring.
• Understanding of dark-web and restricted-source collection, ransomware infrastructure, identity and entity resolution, and adversarial web environments.
