Principal Product Quality Engineer (Semiconductor)

Location: Seremban, Malaysia; onsite role.

What you will do

• Lead quality activities across NPI and NTI projects, including product and process readiness, qualification execution, and release to mass production.
• Define, review, and approve qualification strategies, reliability test plans, risk assessments, safe-launch plans, and Zero Defect project-gate deliverables.
• Identify failure mechanisms, lead 8D problem-solving, and implement corrective, preventive, and continuous-improvement actions.
• Coordinate with R&D, process engineering, manufacturing, test engineering, reliability laboratories, and customers on quality and reliability topics.
• Analyze yield, test, and reliability data to identify trends, deviations, and systemic risks.
• Own qualification reports, control plans, PPAP/PSW packages, change records, manufacturing-readiness reviews, and early field-performance monitoring.

Requirements

• Knowledge of semiconductor devices, assembly and packaging, wafer fabrication, or test engineering.
• Experience with NPI/NTI processes in semiconductor or high-reliability electronics environments.
• Strong understanding of reliability testing, including HTOL, HAST, temperature cycling, HTS, ESD, and latch-up.
• Knowledge of failure-analysis techniques such as SEM, EDX, X-ray, curve tracing, decapsulation, cross-sectioning, FIB, and OBIRCH.
• Familiarity with wafer fabrication, assembly, testing, and reliability manufacturing processes.
• Strong knowledge and use of quality and root-cause tools, including 8D, FMEA, SPC, DOE, and APQP.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, or a related field.
• Strong cross-functional leadership, stakeholder management, communication, analytical, independent-working, multitasking, and problem-solving skills.
• 5+ years of experience in semiconductor quality, failure analysis, product engineering, or reliability engineering is preferred; the position is also open to non-experienced engineers willing to learn and grow.

Nice to have

• Understanding of automotive quality standards, including AEC-Q100, JEDEC JESD47, and IATF 16949.
• Experience in automotive semiconductor environments.
• Experience with global automotive, industrial, or consumer-electronics customers.
