Data Architect (Manager)

Location: Home worker or offices in Belfast, Birmingham, and London, United Kingdom.

What you will do

• Provide SME guidance on data structures, data flows, data sourcing, data governance, and other core data architecture disciplines.
• Work with clients to understand data requirements and ensure solutions are fit for purpose.
• Provide technical leadership, assurance, mentoring, and standards definition across data projects.
• Resolve data definition and mastering issues at solution or enterprise level across complex stakeholder environments.
• Manage, coach, and develop a small number of staff, including performance management and career development.
• Support product and technology selection and lead the team in solving complex data problems.

Requirements

• Experience in the UK healthcare or public sector.
• Strong technical design expertise in data modelling, data analysis, metadata management, data transformation, data migration, and master data.
• A track record of technical leadership in data projects, including assurance, mentoring, and standards definition, with awareness of best-practice techniques and methodologies.
• Experience selecting products or technologies at project or enterprise level.
• Excellent engagement skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders, including the ability to provide thought leadership and inspire internal staff.
• High proficiency in at least three mainstream data technologies and awareness of wider data technology trends.
• Ability to work independently with a high degree of uncertainty and to manage, coach, and develop junior team members and the wider community.

• Experience defining information-handling models and capacity planning across heterogeneous data-store technologies.
• Experience establishing data governance processes.
• Experience architecting data lakes and solutions within data lake ecosystems.
• Enterprise data architecture experience.
