Data Center Network Operations Engineer

Location: Hybrid; available in Singapore or Sydney, Australia. Limited travel may be required, and candidates progressing to the offer stage may attend an in-person interview at a hirify.global office or hub.

What you will do

• Maintain data center environments and operational availability across hirify.global’s global network of 330+ cities and 125+ countries.
• Collaborate with Infrastructure, Network Engineering, SRE, hardware manufacturers, data center and network providers, logistics partners, and service providers.
• Create and maintain documentation, plans, SOPs, and MOPs, while developing consistent operational processes and visibility measurements.
• Manage and instruct remote contractors completing data center tasks and support infrastructure delivery to remote colocation facilities.
• Support and configure network infrastructure, provide feedback on internal tools and vendor partnerships, and participate in a shared 24×7 on-call rotation.
• Use AI tools and automation to accelerate documentation, troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and repetitive operational work.

Requirements

• Experience with Juniper, Cisco, and DWDM network equipment.
• At least 4 years of Linux systems administration experience.
• Experience managing and instructing remote contractors.
• Familiarity with standing up infrastructure in remote colocation facilities and with data center operations such as deployment, migration, and decommissioning.
• Experience running and improving operational processes, including automation tooling, in a rapidly changing environment.
• Experience managing data center infrastructure and network architecture, including physical networking and server technologies.
• Ability to handle basic program management responsibilities, including prioritization, planning, scheduling, and status reporting with tools such as JIRA.
• Strong technical, verbal, written communication, problem-solving, interpersonal, and attention-to-detail skills; a self-driven approach and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Ability to participate in a shared on-call rotation supporting 24×7 global network availability.

Nice to have

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, MIS, or a related technical field.
• Direct experience executing complex data center or infrastructure projects.
• Experience installing or maintaining data center and other IT infrastructure and DCIM tools.
• Experience with infrastructure across multiple countries and remote “lights-out” or out-of-band access to data center resources.
• Linux certifications such as RHCSA, or network certifications such as CCNA or JNCIA or higher.
• Experience with SaltStack, Chef, Puppet, or Ansible; scripting or software development with Bash, Python, or Go.
• Familiarity with load balancing and reverse proxies such as Nginx, Varnish, HAProxy, or Apache.
• Experience working within a large-scale SaaS vendor.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets.
• Team-oriented approach and ability to learn quickly.
