Principal Systems Engineer IVV

Location: Maidenhead, United Kingdom; onsite. Flexible to travel within the UK to support external stakeholders, test houses and customers. Applicants must be British citizens who have been resident in the UK for the past 5 years for SC clearance and 10 years for DV clearance.

What you will do

• Assure systems engineering verification and validation and deliver conclusive evidence through system integration, verification and validation processes.
• Create and maintain IV&V strategies, plans, procedures, compliance matrices and reports across the systems engineering lifecycle.
• Lead the cross-discipline development, testing and maintenance of special-to-type test equipment, rigs and fixtures.
• Manage safety and security for IV&V events, laboratories and test facilities, including external test houses and interoperability testing.
• Participate in design reviews and project gates, own Test Readiness Review preparation and actions, and support qualification activities.
• Provide specialist guidance, mentoring and coaching, with possible line management, technical management or subject matter expert responsibilities.

Requirements

• Current or recent SC security clearance and willingness and ability to obtain and maintain DV security clearance.
• Degree or equivalent qualification in Engineering, Mathematics or Physics, or applicable defense industry experience.
• Knowledge of Systems Engineering and V&V for solutions comprising hardware, software and firmware.
• Experience designing and delivering special-to-type test equipment for diverse requirements across multiple concurrent projects.
• Experience managing safety and security for test environments and laboratories, including building business cases for suitable, safe and secure facilities.
• Demonstrable experience with INCOSE/ISO 15288 Systems Engineering for complex solutions and delivery of IV&V in accordance with ISO 29119.
• Ability to travel within the UK to support external stakeholders, test houses and customers.
• Must be a British citizen and meet the stated UK residency requirements for security clearance.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with environmental facilities and their operation.
• Experience assessing tasks and defining Basis of Estimate costing for bids and changes.
• Active involvement in professional publications, Systems Engineering and IV&V standards, and related professional organisations.
• Experience implementing test facilities or equipment in accordance with ISO 17025.
• INCOSE membership or ASEP/CSEP certification.
• IV&V or test-related certification or recognition.
• Experience with test automation, frameworks and combining automated and manual testing.
• Environmental, EMC, EMI or TEMPEST design or test experience.
• Modelling for test scope, test environment requirements or validation.
• Scripting with JavaScript, Python, Ruby, Perl, Bash, REST or MySQL.
• Experience with iterative, incremental, TDD, BDD, ATDD, hybrid or similar development approaches.
