Senior Electrical System Engineer (Spacecraft)

What you will do

• Develop and maintain electrical system architectures, from high-level specifications through detailed electronics design and integration.
• Perform requirements engineering, interface analysis, spacecraft electrical budgeting, and parametric modelling.
• Define validation, verification, and test plans; support AIV/T planning, integration and testing of electrical units, product assurance, and technical reviews.
• Collaborate with subsystem, software, systems, spacecraft operations, and robotics engineers across concept, design, AIT, launch, and in-orbit commissioning.
• Prepare technical documentation, including design and verification plans, FMEA, design review documentation, and in-orbit operational procedures.
• Prepare and review RFPs, assess supplier responses, manage subcontractors, and supervise electrical system hardware deliverables.

Requirements

• BSc or MSc in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related discipline.
• 5+ years of Electrical Engineering experience in the space industry in a systems, avionics, data handling, or power electronics role.
• Experience with system-level requirements, interfaces, and technical documentation.
• Knowledge of typical programme lifecycles and previous active contribution to formal reviews such as PDR and CDR.
• Ability to work in a team and collaborate outside the immediate area of expertise.
• Strong organisation skills and ability to manage multiple technical topics in parallel.

Nice to have

• Detailed understanding of electronics analysis, design, build, and test.
• Hands-on electronics design and test experience, including fault diagnosis.
• Experience with common space standards such as ECSS and MIL, including associated tailoring.
• Experience with EMC constraints and mitigation measures.
• Experience in technical team leadership.
• Experience interacting with institutional customers such as ESA or the UK Space Agency.
