Senior Systems Engineer-Avionics (Aerospace)

Location: Letchworth, UK; hybrid working available.

Company

Defense and aerospace product development and manufacturing organization delivering flight recorders, air data computers, video management systems, computing systems, mission displays, and video recorder products.

What you will do

• Define system architectures based on required functionality and maintain system requirements and interface design documentation.
• Develop integration, verification, acceptance testing, and qualification procedures and plans, and produce test reports.
• Participate in system and subsystem integration, verification, acceptance, qualification, and product certification activities.
• Support system, hardware, and software requirements and design activities, including technical support for subcontracted development and acceptance of subcontracted deliverables.
• Coordinate design review entry and exit criteria with the chief engineer, contribute to lifecycle design reviews, and support continuous improvement of systems engineering processes.
• Take technical responsibility for allocated design tasks, define work packages for planning and bidding, produce work package reports, and mentor systems engineers.

Requirements

• Senior-level experience in systems engineering across the full system development lifecycle.
• Experience eliciting requirements and understanding the characteristics of effective requirements.
• Proven ability to write formal project documentation.
• Knowledge of validation and verification methodologies.
• Degree or HND-level education in an appropriate subject; relevant experience may exceptionally substitute for formal qualifications or training.
• Experience with requirements management tools such as DOORS.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of ARP4754, DO-254, DO-178, DO-326, DO-160, or ED112a standards.
