Duty Editor, LBC and Global’s Newsroom

Location: Leicester Square, London; hybrid Smart Working with a minimum of three days in the office each week, including at least two Mondays and two Fridays each month. The role follows a rolling four days on, four days off shift pattern with early starts, late finishes, and weekends.

What you will do

• Provide senior editorial oversight across LBC’s output in a fast-paced, 24/7 news environment.
• Lead planning meetings, coordinate the daily agenda, and make key editorial decisions.
• Connect audio and digital content so major stories and moments reach audiences across platforms.
• Identify original stories, exclusive news lines, and high-profile guests that generate national debate.
• Coordinate journalists, presenters, programming, digital, and communications teams around shared coverage.
• Lead shift handovers, support team development, and maintain editorial integrity and compliance with Ofcom regulations and hirify.global’s editorial requirements.

Requirements

• Extensive senior editorial experience in a fast-paced, multi-platform national newsroom.
• Strong editorial judgement and confidence making fast decisions during breaking news and high-pressure situations.
• Proven experience breaking major original stories with national impact.
• Strong foundation in media law and detailed knowledge of the Ofcom Broadcast Code.
• Experience managing competing priorities, resources, and workflows in a live broadcast environment.
• Collaborative leadership across audio, digital, programming, and newsroom teams.
• Excellent communication and influencing skills with internal and external partners.
• Ability to provide constructive, supportive, in-the-moment feedback and coaching.
• Flexibility to work shifts at different times of day, including weekends.
