Senior Data Scientist (Product Analytics)

Location: Remote or hybrid in the USA or Australia; listed locations include San Francisco, Los Angeles, Melbourne, and Sydney.

Salary: $147,000–$182,000 base salary for roles based in San Francisco, Los Angeles, or US-Remote; final offers vary by location, experience, expertise, and role scope.

What you will do

• Define and evolve core product metrics and metric trees spanning acquisition, activation, engagement, retention, and monetisation.
• Design, run, and evaluate A/B tests and quasi-experiments, turning results into ship, iterate, or stop recommendations.
• Lead deep-dive analyses into growth, retention, and revenue questions, identifying opportunities and risks.
• Build and own trusted datasets, dbt models, and dashboards for self-serve product performance visibility.
• Partner with Product Managers and Engineering leads on roadmap prioritisation, opportunity sizing, and launch success criteria.
• Set standards for experimentation, metric definitions, and analytical rigour; mentor others and communicate decision-ready insights to product leadership and executives.

Requirements

• 4–5+ years of experience as a Data Scientist or Product Analyst in a high-growth, product-led technology company.
• Hands-on experience running experiments ranging from rapid exploratory tests to formal hypothesis tests, with strong knowledge of statistics, power analysis, and causal inference.
• Advanced SQL and fluency in Python or R for analysis and modelling, including building pipelines and datasets.
• Experience with modern data stacks such as dbt, Dagster or Airflow, and Snowflake or BigQuery, plus BI tools such as Hex or Looker.
• Demonstrated experience defining product metrics and using data to influence product decisions, with measurable impact.
• Ability to scope ambiguous problems independently, maintain a clear point of view with senior stakeholders, and change direction when supported by data.
• Excellent communication skills for turning complex findings into clear recommendations for varied audiences.
• Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, statistics, economics, computer science, or a related field.
