Robotics Engineering Intern (Physical AI)

Location: On-site in Carson, California, at the Los Angeles headquarters; candidates must secure and maintain work authorization in the United States.

Compensation: $30–$40 per hour. Paid internship running approximately October 2026 through March 2027; availability to start no later than October 1, 2026 is required.

What you will do

• Design, implement, and test systems for robotic grinding applications with the Customer Success and cross-functional teams.
• Partner with Senior Application Engineers to support robotic solutions.
• Participate in rigorous system testing and hands-on problem solving.
• Assist with proofs of concept for new manufacturing customers.
• Support advancements in robotic surface treatment to improve manufacturing efficiency and precision.

Requirements

• Have or be pursuing a bachelor's degree or higher in Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Experience with iterative design and prototyping of cyber-physical and mechatronic systems.
• Exposure to manufacturing processes and industries.
• Ability to read and interpret C++ and Python.
• Experience with Visual Studio Code.
• Ability to adapt to new environments and changing conditions, communicate and collaborate across multiple teams, and work in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
• Must secure and maintain ongoing United States work authorization from the time of hire through the entirety of employment.

Nice to have

• Have or be pursuing a master's degree or higher in Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Industry or internship experience in autonomous manufacturing and experience with manufacturing processes.
• Experience developing standard operating procedures and documentation.
• Experience with industrial robots and auxiliary systems.
• Programming skills in C++ and Python.
• Expertise in 3D CAD design and experience with Linux.
• Background in dynamics, controls, motion planning, machine learning, robotics, computer vision, artificial intelligence, or computational geometry.
• Experience with ROS.
