Senior Solutions Engineer (Robotics)

Location: Hybrid, based out of the Salem, Oregon office; travel of approximately 20–50% is required for customer deployments, pilots, and field testing. All roles are U.S.-based, and applicants must have current authorization to work in the United States.

Anticipated base salary: $149,000–$194,000 USD annually.

What you will do

• Architect and execute complex integrations across robotic systems, customer APIs, sensors, software, PLCs, conveyors, and other industrial equipment.
• Develop software integrations, custom tools, scripts, and modules using Python, REST API, and MQTT to extend robotic functionality.
• Design mechatronics systems and industrial automation solutions that adapt customer applications to Digit’s capabilities.
• Lead on-site commissioning, field testing, deployment troubleshooting, and iterative problem-solving with minimal supervision.
• Act as a subject matter expert for product capabilities, APIs, and system behavior; provide training and documentation to internal teams and customers.
• Partner with customers, Product, and Systems Engineering to scope requirements, resolve systemic issues, validate new features, shape the roadmap, and create reusable integration templates.

Requirements

• BS/MS in Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronics Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent hands-on experience.
• 6+ years of experience deploying robotics or automation systems in real-world environments.
• Experience designing mechatronics systems or industrial automation.
• Expertise in Python, networking, and hardware/software system interfacing.
• Proven ability to solve difficult technical problems at the intersection of automation and customer needs.
• Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to align engineering, product, and external stakeholders.
• Ability to own complex projects independently, mentor others, and drive scalable systems and product improvements.
• Willingness and ability to travel up to 50% of the time.

Nice to have

• Experience with Linux.
• Leadership of robotics or automation pilots or customer-focused technical programs.
• Familiarity with ROS, safety standards, electromechanical systems, or industrial networks.
• Advanced programming skills in C++, TypeScript, Kotlin, or similar languages.
• Experience contributing to SDKs, developer tools, integration frameworks, reusable deployment tooling, or scalable field support systems.
