Photographer/Editor (News ENG)

Location: San Diego, California, United States; onsite at 4575 Viewridge Ave. Regular travel outside the San Diego market may be required.

Salary: $22+ per hour, commensurate with experience and skill level.

What you will do

• Shoot high-quality video and capture natural sound for daily news, breaking news, live coverage, and special projects.
• Work with reporters and producers to plan visual coverage, develop story ideas, and gather complete, accurate, and unbiased footage and sound.
• Edit video for newscasts and digital platforms using Adobe Premiere Pro, match footage to scripts, meet deadlines, and follow editorial and style standards.
• Set up and operate microwave, satellite, and bonded-cellular systems for live shots and video feeds; troubleshoot technical issues and communicate with the control room during broadcasts.
• Organize and archive footage, maintain cameras, field equipment, and vehicles, and complete required logs and paperwork.
• Respond to breaking news and changing schedules while following safety procedures, including in hazardous conditions, and communicate developments from the field to the assignment desk and newsroom.

Requirements

• At least three years of professional news camera experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Professional proficiency with ENG field cameras, live trucks, field editing systems, and related equipment.
• Professional experience editing with Adobe Premiere Pro.
• Valid driver’s license and excellent driving record; driving a news vehicle to and from assignments is a regular part of the job.
• Strong attention to detail, ability to follow direction, and sound judgment when making independent decisions under pressure.
• Availability for early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, overnight assignments, and travel outside the San Diego market as newsroom needs require.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. of equipment.
• Ability to perform other duties as assigned.

Nice to have

• FAA Part 107 Drone License.
