Senior Electrical Test Engineer (Medical Devices)

Location: Batu Kawan, Malaysia; support for the Penang production line and Clinton, Pennsylvania, with approximately 10–15% travel as needed.

What you will do

• Design, develop, verify, validate, and release electrical test fixtures, including fixture electronics, schematics, PCB layouts, prototype interface boards, wiring, and instrumentation.
• Define test requirements, strategy, and coverage for PCBAs and electrical sub-assemblies; develop ICT, FCT, and In-System Programming solutions.
• Develop and maintain automated test software using NI LabVIEW, TestStand, Python, or C/C++.
• Maintain, troubleshoot, calibrate, and improve production fixtures using oscilloscopes, function generators, DMMs, power supplies, electronic loads, and DAQ equipment.
• Analyze test failures, lead root-cause analysis and corrective actions, improve first-pass yield, and support preventive maintenance, spares, obsolescence planning, and technician training.
• Act as the technical interface for contract manufacturers and suppliers, duplicate external testers in-house when needed, modernize legacy systems, and standardize fixture practices across sites.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or a related field.
• 5–10 years of manufacturing test engineering experience, preferably in medical devices or other high-reliability industries such as automotive or aerospace.
• Proven ICT and FCT development and debugging experience with Keysight/Agilent 3070, Teradyne Test Station, or similar systems.
• Strong proficiency in NI LabVIEW for test automation and hands-on experience designing test fixture PCBs, including schematic capture, layout, and prototyping.
• Expert-level electrical and mechanical troubleshooting using standard laboratory test equipment; ability to read, review, and analyze schematics, PCB layouts, and assembly drawings.
• Experience with fixture verification and validation, controlled documentation release, regulated environments, ISO 13485, and IEC 60601 awareness.
• Experience supporting contract manufacturers and production lines.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a global organization, manage multiple priorities across sites and partners, and communicate clearly in written and spoken English.
• Experience with electromechanical systems such as motors, sensors, and power supplies; FPGA development; Python, C/C++, or other instrument-control programming; and schematic/layout tools such as OrCAD, Altium, or equivalent.

Nice to have

• NI TestStand experience.
• Certified LabVIEW Developer (CLD) certification or higher.
• Bahasa Malaysia or Mandarin.
