Lead Platform Infrastructure Engineer (Semiconductor Manufacturing)

Location: Milpitas, California, United States; onsite role.

Base pay: $186,200.00–$316,500.00 annually.

What you will do

• Build and automate the infrastructure powering applications and platform services.
• Deploy, manage, upgrade, and troubleshoot production Kubernetes clusters at scale, including environments beyond managed cloud services.
• Automate environment builds and improve monitoring, observability, and platform reliability.
• Enable application teams to deploy and operate services more effectively.
• Own platform components end to end and participate in technical design and code reviews.
• Lead platform architecture and guide the work of other engineers while communicating technical trade-offs to engineers, managers, and customers.

Requirements

• At least 4 years of experience running production Kubernetes at scale, including cluster installation, upgrades, and troubleshooting beyond managed cloud services.
• Demonstrated technical leadership, including ownership of architecture for a platform or major subsystem and guidance of other engineers.
• Deep Linux administration skills and solid knowledge of networking, including TCP/IP, DNS, load balancing, and VLANs, as well as storage concepts.
• Hands-on experience with infrastructure as code and configuration management using tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or Helm.
• Proficiency in at least one programming language, preferably Go or Python, and in shell scripting.
• Experience with containers, container image builds, registries, and CI/CD systems.
• Practical experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, and OpenTelemetry.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical trade-offs to engineers, managers, and customers.
• A Master's degree with 6 years of related work experience, or a Bachelor's degree with 8 years of related work experience.

Nice to have

• Certified Kubernetes Administrator, Certified Kubernetes Security Specialist, or equivalent certification.
• Experience with on-premises and edge Kubernetes distributions such as RKE2, k3s, OpenShift, or Rancher, including air-gapped installations.
• Experience with virtualization platforms such as VMware, KVM, or Hyper-V and server and network hardware configuration.
• Familiarity with GitOps tooling, service mesh technologies such as Istio or Linkerd, and policy engines such as OPA Gatekeeper or Kyverno.
• Background running data-intensive or HPC workloads, including GPU scheduling, distributed storage, or SQL/NoSQL databases on Kubernetes.
• Experience delivering software into semiconductor, manufacturing, or other regulated industrial environments.
• Exposure to Azure, AWS, or GCP and hybrid architectures.
