Product Manager (Application Modernization)

What you will do

• Own the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for the CAI application modernization initiative.
• Gather, document, prioritize, and manage business and functional user stories from Commission stakeholders.
• Translate business needs into user stories, acceptance criteria, and actionable product backlog items.
• Collaborate with solution architects, developers, UX/UI designers, and vendors on platform, architecture, integration, and technical modernization decisions.
• Prioritize features and technical work based on business value, risk, dependencies, and strategic goals; facilitate backlog refinement, sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives.
• Define KPIs, support change management, adoption, and training, ensure compliance, resolve impediments, and provide status updates to IT leadership and business sponsors.

Requirements

• Experience as a Product Manager leading $10M large-scale public-sector modernization efforts.
• Experience modernizing legacy applications, leading digital transformation projects, or migrating enterprise applications to modern architectures.
• Strong experience gathering user stories from diverse business stakeholders and converting them into actionable product backlogs.
• Working knowledge of Agile/Scrum methodologies and tools such as Azure DevOps, Jira, or similar.
• Experience overseeing and testing large data conversions.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences, with strong organizational and prioritization skills.
• Familiarity with the Microsoft technology stack, Azure cloud platforms, or content management systems.
• Experience with process improvement and business process reengineering.
• Knowledge of WCAG 2.1 accessibility standards and public-sector compliance requirements.
• Bachelor’s degree in business, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience; YAFOS Certification.
