Principal Account Manager - Field Applications (North America)

Location: Santa Clara, United States; other location: offsite, Michigan, United States. Field-based role supporting customers across North America.

Salary: $130,000–$254,000 per year.

What you will do

• Serve as the primary technical interface for customers during pre-sales and early development.
• Lead customer presentations, architectural reviews, product demonstrations, workshops, and technical evaluations.
• Drive design-in activities and support design wins for CPU IP licensing, custom silicon programs, and software solutions.
• Guide customers on processor IP integration, software toolchains, development environments, embedded systems, and system architecture.
• Explain MIPS solutions including Open RISC-V architecture, multithreaded compute, scalable neural processors, and functional-safety-ready solutions.
• Collaborate with sales, business development, ecosystem partners, product, and engineering teams on opportunities, proposals, RFIs, and customer feedback.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering or a similar discipline.
• 10+ years of experience in Field Application Engineering, Applications Engineering, or Design Engineering.
• Experience with semiconductor IP, SoC/ASIC development, or embedded systems in Industrial, Automotive, IDM electronics, or related markets.
• Proven experience supporting customer engagements and design wins.
• Strong understanding of Industrial, Automotive, or IDM electronic architectures, including MCUs, SoCs, and domain/zonal controllers.
• Familiarity with processor architectures, embedded software development including compilers, SDKs, and operating systems, and system-level design and integration.
• Strong customer-facing communication, problem-solving, debugging, and hands-on technical skills.
• Ability to work independently in a field-based role and connect technical requirements with customer business needs.
• Fluent English.

Nice to have

• Experience with the RISC-V ecosystem or CPU IP integration.
• Experience supporting Industrial, Automotive, or IDM customers in North America.
• Experience with SoC development and custom silicon implementation flows.
• Understanding of functional safety standards or design requirements in Industrial and Automotive markets.
