Manager, Software Development Engineering (AI)

Location: Flexible hybrid model; in-person interviews may be required, particularly for positions based in the Boston and Dublin offices.

Annual base salary: $186,000–$233,000 USD, with potential discretionary bonuses, incentives, and RSUs.

What you will do

• Lead, mentor, and grow a team of software engineers, supporting technical development, career growth, performance, and a collaborative culture.
• Set technical direction while balancing delivery with architecture, reliability, scalability, developer effectiveness, security, testing, observability, and code quality.
• Lead collaboration across Engineering, Product, UX, and Analytics from ideation and technical development through experimentation and launch.
• Guide development of intuitive, high-quality customer-facing mobile and web products for the Autolist automotive shopping experience.
• Drive execution by clarifying goals, decomposing complex initiatives, managing scope and dependencies, and enabling incremental delivery and learning.
• Champion AI coding assistants, agentic workflows, AI-driven engineering tools, product analytics, experimentation, and customer-informed decision-making.

Requirements

• 7+ years of relevant software engineering experience, including 3+ years as an engineering manager, technical lead, or equivalent engineering leader.
• Experience leading and developing engineers who build and operate customer-facing software.
• Generalist engineering background with technical depth in architecture, system design, APIs, distributed systems, data, testing, observability, and technical trade-offs.
• Experience delivering consumer-facing products at scale and shipping high-quality, user-centered experiences.
• Experience with mobile applications or close partnership with mobile engineering teams; familiarity with iOS and/or Android platform design principles.
• Strong product judgment, quantitative and analytical problem-solving skills, and experience using analytics, experimentation, and customer insights to measure impact.
• Enthusiasm for AI-enabled and agentic development, with the ability to help engineers adopt new tools and working methods.
• Ownership mindset, strong project and execution management skills, and the ability to drive development from concept to launch in ambiguous environments.
• Ability to coach engineers, communicate effectively, build trust across partner disciplines, and create inclusive teams.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• Curiosity, empathy, sound judgment, and commitment to continuous improvement.

Nice to have

• Mobile experience leading teams that build customer-centric mobile products.
• Experience with one mobile platform is sufficient; experience with both iOS and Android is not required.
