Senior Engineer Manager (Fintech)

Location: Seattle, Washington, United States; hybrid work with onsite attendance Tuesday through Thursday each week, with additional onsite attendance possible based on business needs.

Starting base salary: $208,000–$260,000 annually.

What you will do

• Hire, coach, develop, and manage the performance of engineering teams.
• Own the technical strategy and lead complex architecture changes across teams, including modernization of transfer APIs and data models.
• Guide the transition from regional implementations to configurable workflows across mobile, web, conversational, and partner experiences.
• Build reusable recipient-selection, payment-selection, development-tool, and platform components with infrastructure and domain teams.
• Improve reliability through monitoring, automated testing, and simulations that identify issues before release.
• Partner with Product, Design, Analytics, and engineering leaders on priorities, measurable goals, delivery, staffing, quarterly planning, dependencies, and responsible use of AI coding tools.

Requirements

• 10+ years of software engineering experience, including technical leadership of full-stack systems, API design, and client-server interactions.
• 5+ years of recent experience hiring and managing engineering teams, including coaching and performance management.
• Experience leading architecture changes in a large codebase shared by multiple teams, including separating tightly coupled components, introducing configuration-driven workflows, or moving business logic to backend services.
• Expertise in a backend or full-stack language such as Go, Kotlin, Java, or TypeScript.
• Experience building secure, scalable systems using cloud infrastructure such as AWS.
• Sound judgment applying AI to software development and helping teams adopt AI tools safely and effectively.
• A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent professional experience.

Nice to have

• Experience applying AI to product features.
• A master’s degree.
• Experience with mobile and web architecture, including React Native, React, server-driven user interfaces, or workflow orchestration.
• Experience building software development kits, frameworks, or internal platforms used by other engineering teams.
• Experience in payments, fintech, or another regulated industry requiring accurate and secure services.
• Experience running experiments at scale using A/B tests and feature flags.
