Staff Software Engineer, Frontend (Decisions Orchestration) (React)

Location: Remote, Canada; candidates must reside in Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, or Saskatchewan.

Base pay per year: $181,000–$241,000 CAD.

What you will do

• Set the team’s technical strategy on a year-long horizon and connect it to critical, business-impacting projects.
• Lead the design of the next generation of Affirm’s checkout experience across shopper-facing screens, downstream orchestration, and state management.
• Collaborate with product management, design, and analytics throughout the product development lifecycle to manage sustainability, risks, and trade-offs.
• Define and advocate for technical solutions and operational processes, including monitoring, triage rotations, playbooks, policies, testing, and alerting.
• Set code review and design standards, promote quality and ownership through writing and technical talks, and support team members through feedback and guidance.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience developing and architecting web applications using declarative UI frameworks such as React or Vue.
• Proficiency with JavaScript and TypeScript.
• Experience delivering major features or system components, or deprecating existing functionality, through defined technical and execution plans.
• Ability to write high-quality, understandable code that can be used by others.
• Comfort working through ambiguity, from low-level language idioms to the architecture of large systems.
• Demonstrated growth and impact through gathering and iterating on feedback from engineering and cross-functional peers.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills for collaboration with a global engineering team.
• Equivalent practical experience or a Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
