Senior Consultant Energy System Planning (Energy)

Location: Hybrid, Amsterdam, Netherlands; work may take place from home, at the client, or from the Amsterdam office. A work permit cannot be provided, and non-Dutch speakers will not be accepted.

What you will do

• Work directly with clients on the energy sector transition and the challenges facing grid operators.
• Develop integrated energy system planning, business analysis, and project management solutions.
• Contribute to long-term grid planning, power and gas system integration, and energy policy development.
• Support grid planning decisions involving costs, socio-economic welfare, and CO2 changes in the energy system.
• Apply stakeholder management, data analysis, reporting, and integrated energy system optimization.
• Contribute to strategy, business development, recruitment, knowledge sharing, and training.

Requirements

• Educational background in energy systems, sustainable energy technologies, or a similar field, demonstrating broad and in-depth understanding of energy systems and the energy transition.
• At least 4 years of relevant work experience or a PhD.
• Understanding of the role of long-term scenarios and visions in large-scale projects and energy policy.
• Excellent analytical skills, numerical insight, and well-developed conceptual ability.
• Good understanding of DSO and TSO business and operations.
• Professional Dutch and English language skills.
• Ability to learn quickly; communicative, flexible, and entrepreneurial approach.
• Strong interest in data and AI-related topics and ability to quickly build expertise in these areas.
• Passion for energy.

Nice to have

• Previous consulting experience, preferably for a grid operator.
• Familiarity with integrated energy system planning.
• Fluent German language skills.
