Engineering Manager (FinTech)

Location: Hybrid, with 3 days in office and 2 days remote, based in New York, NY or Century City, CA.

Salary: $270,000–$320,000 gross annual base salary, plus equity and benefits.

What you will do

• Lead the Revenue Finance and Tax Engineering teams and set technical direction across both groups.
• Build and maintain systems for revenue recognition, billing, settlement, ledgers, reconciliation, financial reporting, tax calculation, tax collection, tax remittance, and compliance workflows.
• Set measurable goals, drive execution, resolve blockers, track progress, and deliver initiatives tied to company objectives.
• Hire, coach, retain, and develop high-performing engineers while fostering psychological safety, inclusion, feedback, autonomy, and shared accountability.
• Use data and metrics to prioritize work, evaluate solutions, and improve operational performance, quality, velocity, and incident rates.
• Partner with Finance, Accounting, Tax, Product, and Data stakeholders to translate regulatory and accounting requirements into engineering roadmaps.

Requirements

• 8+ years of engineering experience, including technical ownership of production systems and business-critical software.
• 4+ years of people leadership experience, including hiring and developing high-performing teams.
• Direct experience building financial, payments, billing, ledger, or tax systems, or comparable systems where correctness, compliance, and auditability are first-order requirements.
• Strong technical background in backend engineering, distributed systems, APIs, or data platforms, including Postgres, SQL Server, Java, Python, or React.
• Ability to drive execution, define clear success metrics, and solve complex problems with data and rigor.
• Experience working directly with Finance, Tax, or Accounting stakeholders and translating regulatory and accounting requirements into engineering roadmaps.
• Ability to manage ambiguity, prioritize ruthlessly, and deliver under tight timelines.
• Comfort giving and receiving candid feedback and modeling it for others.
