Engineering Manager (Data Engineering)

Location: Remote; candidates must be authorized to work in the United States.

Compensation: $180K–$200K annually, plus bonus.

What you will do

• Lead and develop the engineering team responsible for the foundational data processing platform.
• Drive technical strategy and execution across Snowflake, dbt, Python services on AWS, and Airflow orchestration.
• Own Snowflake access control, permissions, warehouse configuration, cost management, environment management, and release processes.
• Own production reliability through on-call readiness, monitoring, incident triage, alerting, and post-mortems.
• Collaborate with product, business, analytics engineering, DevOps, and other engineering teams on schemas, infrastructure, integrations, and deployment pipelines.
• Establish engineering standards for code review, testing, documentation, CI/CD, delivery, mentoring, and team growth.

Requirements

• 6+ years of data engineering experience and 2+ years of engineering management experience.
• Hands-on development experience with Snowflake, dbt, Python, and SQL.
• Experience administering a cloud data warehouse, including access control, cost management, and environment and release processes.
• Experience running production services in a cloud environment, ideally AWS, including containerized workloads and serverless functions.
• Experience owning production data systems, including Airflow or similar orchestration tooling, monitoring and alerting, and incident response.
• Experience applying CI/CD and automated testing to data pipelines.
• Excellent communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders; a track record of delivering complex software projects on time.
• Ability to balance business needs with technical excellence.
• Authorization to work in the United States is required.

Nice to have

• Experience working with data in a HIPAA-compliant environment.
• Experience building and maintaining integrations with third-party systems and APIs.
• Working knowledge of dimensional modeling and warehouse design tradeoffs.
• Experience consolidating fragmented scheduling onto a single orchestration platform.
• Experience with Fivetran or similar ELT tooling.
• Familiarity with Terraform or other infrastructure-as-code tools.
