Expert Manager, Product Management & Innovation (AI)

Location: New York or San Francisco, United States. The role requires working in person at least three days per week at a Bain home office or client location, plus regional travel away from the primary working location.

Annual full-time salary: $224,300 in New York and California, plus discretionary performance compensation.

What you will do

• Integrate human-centered design, research, business goals, and customer needs into product strategy and vision.
• Lead ideation sessions, journey mapping, service design workshops, prototyping, and continuous product validation.
• Guide product planning, roadmap definition, prioritization, agile ceremonies, risk management, and execution of POCs, MVPs, and products.
• Partner with Bain teams and clients to solve business challenges and deliver measurable outcomes.
• Lead cross-functional collaboration across engineering, design, research, strategy, clients, and other stakeholders.
• Mentor junior team members, contribute to internal product management initiatives, and share learnings across AIS and Bain.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Engineering, Design, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 8+ years of experience delivering innovation in consulting, technology, industry, or startups.
• Product management experience developing and launching software, enterprise solutions, services, mobile/web applications, or other products.
• Proficiency in using user, business, and technical insights to guide product decisions and assess technical feasibility.
• Hands-on experience product managing software development and AI solutions, including enterprise-scale AI or technology solutions.
• Experience with generative AI-powered product development tools, design thinking, workshop facilitation, agile and Scrum methodologies, and Lean Startup principles.
• Ability to explain technical product concepts, absorb complex technical information, and understand modern design and development principles.
• Ability to manage interdisciplinary teams of engineers, designers, and researchers, collaborate with clients, and work independently in ambiguous environments.
• Minimum three days per week working in person and willingness to undertake regional travel are required.
