Network Engineer (SD-WAN)

Location: Hybrid in the Greater Harrisburg/Mechanicsburg area; candidates must currently reside in Pennsylvania. Telework is available, but on-site work at 1920 Technology Parkway, Mechanicsburg, PA 17050, meetings, training, and occasional overnight travel may be required.

Company

Work with the Edge Networking team within the Bureau of Infrastructure and Operations under the Pennsylvania Office of Administration to support complex edge networks for Commonwealth agencies.

What you will do

• Plan, design, install, configure, maintain, and integrate LAN/WAN edge network infrastructure, including switches, routers, firewalls, Silver Peak SD-WAN appliances, wireless infrastructure, cellular appliances, and associated hardware and software.
• Monitor, test, verify, troubleshoot, and resolve complex network problems while coordinating with users, service providers, vendors, business partners, and other networking teams.
• Support bandwidth analysis, capacity planning, network architecture, technical specifications, schematic drawings, deployments, upgrades, and change management.
• Provide Tier 2 support, manage and document ServiceNow incidents and trouble tickets, and support remote IT and agency operations staff.
• Evaluate emerging technologies, prepare technical recommendations, review configuration standards, and optimize complex edge networks for efficiency and security.
• Create and maintain Visio diagrams and documentation for network components, configurations, installations, deployments, and specialty or field networks.

Requirements

• 4–5 years of network switching experience.
• 3–4 years of network routing experience.
• Numerous years of hands-on experience in a large, complex network environment.
• Working knowledge of routing protocols, network monitoring tools, and network automation.
• Strong verbal and written English communication skills and the ability to read and understand technical literature.
• Ability to assess network issues, make appropriate resolution decisions, provide customer service, and collaborate with networking teams, vendors, and business partners.
• Ability to obtain and maintain CJIS clearances and maintain a valid Pennsylvania driver’s license.
• Ability to lift equipment up to 40 pounds, work from a step ladder, and operate PCs, servers, network components, telephones, and related equipment.

Nice to have

• CCNA certification or demonstrable equivalent hands-on experience.
• CCNP certification or equivalent experience.
• SD-WAN experience.
