Staff Engineer, Network (Manufacturing)

Location: Alameda, CA; primarily based in Moses Lake with physical presence required for equipment management. Onsite work includes entering narrow spaces and walking across the facility.

Base pay: $146,000–$185,000 annually, plus potential benefits, perks, and equity.

What you will do

• Deploy and manage network infrastructure across multiple sites and environments, maintaining redundancy and high availability.
• Monitor network performance, troubleshoot dropped packets, outages, and other network problems, and schedule upgrades.
• Design, manage, and maintain centralized configuration management for networking equipment.
• Build monitoring, supervision, resiliency, security, and platform-health mechanisms.
• Create accurate network diagrams and documentation for network communication system design and planning.
• Develop and support processes that maintain uptime, SLAs, security, and availability of critical platform components while collaborating with Data Systems teams.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience administering, monitoring, and securing firewalls, routers, and switches.
• Deep Layer 2 knowledge and troubleshooting experience.
• Knowledge of application transport and network infrastructure protocols, including SD-WAN.
• Experience deploying and managing multi-site networks and achieving network redundancy.
• Experience with high-bandwidth storage networks.
• Experience with MPLS, VPLS, or SD-WAN.
• Experience with virtual switches in cluster computing environments.
• Experience supporting information security policies, controls, and initiatives.
• Ability to think through problems and visualize complex solutions, with strong collaboration skills.

Nice to have

• Infrastructure-as-code experience.
• Experience with AWS VPC, Transit Gateway, and Direct Connect.
• Experience with operational technology in a manufacturing environment.
