Back End Developer - Java

Location: Bucharest, Romania; hybrid workplace

hirify.global operates a global payment platform processing more than 800 transactions per second and over 10 million successful payments each day.

What you will do

• Design and develop ecommerce payment gateway solutions using Java, SQL, and PL/SQL.
• Build and maintain robust, secure, and high-capacity distributed applications.
• Collaborate with software and quality assurance engineers through code reviews, knowledge sharing, and mentoring.
• Contribute to retrospectives, technical debt resolution, and improvements to team and department practices.
• Work across the full SDLC with solution designers, release teams, support, business stakeholders, and engineering colleagues.
• Provide periodic availability outside normal office hours for release support and deployment.

Requirements

• Ability to build secure, clean, and testable Java-based distributed applications in a Linux development environment.
• Strong understanding of relational database concepts, such as Oracle, with knowledge of architecture and industry design patterns.
• Ability to work collaboratively, drive continuous improvement, and prioritize under pressure.
• Experience with large codebases and version control systems.
• Experience using Linux as a development and production environment.

Nice to have

• Interest in innovation, BDD, and best-of-breed software engineering practices and tools, with the ability to explain their advantages to peers, stakeholders, and end users.
• Interest in AI and ability to use AI tools in day-to-day work.
• Familiarity with agile frameworks and methodologies, including Scrum, Kanban, and SAFe.
• Experience in a global online business or knowledge of cryptography, secure inter-application communication, high availability, high-capacity, and mission-critical systems.
