Technical Project Manager – Laser System

Location: Denver, Colorado, United States; full-time, on-site at headquarters.

What you will do

• Drive execution of Laser Element projects and make informed technical decisions to maintain progress.
• Plan, schedule, and track laser system and subsystem activities using Jira, Flow, and other program planning tools.
• Monitor engineering releases, requirements flow, design reviews, risks, and progress toward critical milestones.
• Manage project plans, architecture and requirements review packages, meeting minutes, action items, and engineering documentation.
• Coordinate staffing and activities across laser engineering, laser science, optics, pulsed power, procurement, and manufacturing teams.
• Track element costs, accounting, execution spend plans, Bills of Materials, design loops, builds, and test campaigns.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering management, construction management, business management, engineering, physics, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in project engineering, project coordination, project planning and controls, administration, or a similar role supporting laser, optical, pulsed-power, or other complex hardware development.
• Experience in an engineering, national-lab, aerospace, defense, or manufacturing environment.
• A proactive problem-solving approach to technical and schedule challenges across laser subsystems.
• Ability to build and sequence critical-path schedules.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration across engineering, scientific, and indirect support teams.
• Technical understanding of laser, optical, or high-energy hardware development processes, including design reviews, requirements flow-down, engineering change requests, and product lifecycles.
• Experience managing and tracking Bills of Materials for complex hardware systems.
• Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident with a current Green Card, or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Nice to have

• Experience with complex integrated laser, optical, or pulsed-power hardware projects, ideally in nuclear fusion, high-energy-density physics, directed energy, or aerospace.
• Familiarity with the design, assembly, integration, and testing of laser systems.
• Proficiency in AI-enabled workflows and data presentation.
• Familiarity with Agile and Waterfall project management methodologies.
• Proficiency with Jira, Confluence, Flow, and other requirements or program management tools.
• Experience with procurement, vendor management, or contract administration for long-lead optics, lasers, or pulsed-power components.
• Strong analytical skills and experience with program planning tools such as Primavera P6.
