Product Owner (Defense)

Salary: $200,000–$250,000 USD annually

What you will do

• Own and prioritize the software product backlog based on operational impact, mission strategy, bugs, and requests from the operational community.
• Translate operator and business needs into actionable sprint items, features, acceptance criteria, and practical technology solutions.
• Collaborate with software leads, architects, developers, systems engineers, integration and test teams, Scrum Masters, Product Owners, UX designers, and government SETA personnel.
• Lead backlog grooming, increment and sprint planning, capacity allocation, release planning, Engineering Review Board, Increment Planning, and Change Control Board activities.
• Track sprint metrics including capacity versus load, velocity, and burndown; analyze development performance and operator feedback to inform roadmap and backlog decisions.
• Create increment and release artifacts, capture lessons learned, and support compliance with system requirements while developing an understanding of hardware integration components.

Requirements

• Active Secret clearance with the ability to obtain TS/SCI clearance.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Technical proficiency and familiarity with software development processes and tools, including Agile methodologies, GitLab, and Command Prompt.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced Agile environment.
• Experience maintaining sprints with software development tools such as Jira and Confluence.
• Ability to independently turn vaguely defined tasks into high-quality artifacts and deliver scalable, reliable, and sustainable solutions in complex technical environments.

Nice to have

• Experience with cloud development and production environments, including Department of Air Force CloudWorks or Platform One.
• Previous Electronic Warfare experience.
• Certified Scrum Product Owner or similar Agile certification.
• Technical background or experience collaborating with engineering on architectural discussions.
• Experience using data and analytics to drive sprint and increment decisions.
• Familiarity with UX/UI principles and user-centered design.
