Engineering Team Lead (SaaS)

What you will do

• Lead and develop backend and frontend engineers through coaching, feedback, delegation, hiring support, onboarding, and meaningful ownership.
• Partner with Product and Design to understand customer needs, shape solutions, challenge assumptions, and make scope and technical trade-offs explicit.
• Own delivery from priorities through execution plans, milestones, dependency management, progress communication, and risk management.
• Guide architecture, software design, code quality, and technical decisions while contributing hands-on where valuable.
• Build reliability, observability, security, and performance into the lifecycle, including monitoring, incident ownership, and root-cause improvements.
• Collaborate with Talent Unit teams, Architects, and platform partners while improving team processes and leading through change.

Requirements

• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience with a strong backend background.
• Experience managing an engineering team, or substantial experience leading and mentoring engineers, driving delivery, and demonstrating readiness for people management.
• Strong knowledge of software design, scalable web architecture, and distributed systems.
• Experience developing and operating SaaS products on AWS or an equivalent cloud platform.
• Ability to guide technical decisions across backend and frontend while balancing simplicity, quality, delivery speed, and long-term maintainability.
• Strong product and customer orientation, including translating complex requirements into practical technical solutions.
• Strong people leadership skills, including coaching, constructive feedback, delegation, and building team ownership.
• An independent, resourceful, and proactive approach, with the ability to create clarity, communicate trade-offs, and surface risks early.
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills in Hebrew and English.

Nice to have

• Experience with JVM languages, particularly Kotlin, Java, or Scala.
• Experience leading a cross-functional product engineering team.
• Experience evolving an existing product and architecture while continuing to deliver customer value.
• Experience with complex workflows, permission models, or sensitive customer data.
• Practical experience using AI-assisted development tools and helping others use them effectively.
• Contributions to engineering guilds, technical forums, or cross-team initiatives.
