Senior Product Manager (GDS)

Salary: 550–600 per day, Outside IR35

What you will do

• Own the vision, strategy, roadmap, and delivery of a digital service on a UK public sector programme.
• Set priorities and manage the backlog, balancing user value, risk, cost, and delivery constraints.
• Work with user researchers, designers, developers, delivery managers, and analysts to shape and improve the service.
• Lead the service through discovery, alpha, beta, and live, including preparation for GDS service assessments.
• Define success measures, track performance, and use data to guide product decisions.
• Manage senior stakeholders, communicate progress and risks, ensure accessibility and security, and coach other product roles where needed.

Requirements

• SC clearance or eligibility for SC clearance.
• Proven experience delivering services to the GDS Service Standard and GOV.UK Service Manual.
• Experience taking services through discovery, alpha, beta, and live phases, including service assessments.
• Experience as a Product Manager or Senior Product Manager at SFIA Level 5 or equivalent.
• Strong experience in user-centred design and working with user research.
• Experience prioritising and managing a backlog in an Agile team.
• Strong senior-level stakeholder management and influencing skills.
• Experience using data and performance measures to guide decisions.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.

Nice to have

• Experience in central government departments or arm's-length bodies.
• Familiarity with the Government Digital and Data framework.
• Understanding of accessibility, including WCAG 2.2, and the Technology Code of Practice.
• Experience in multi-supplier delivery.
• Product management certification such as CSPO or similar.
