Java Backend Engineer 100% (f/m/d)

What you will do

• Develop, enhance, and maintain backend applications for a business-critical enterprise platform using Java 21, Jakarta EE, JPA/Hibernate, and Maven.
• Design and implement REST APIs and integrate internal and external systems using SOAP, JMS, and other messaging technologies.
• Develop Oracle database functionality, including data modelling, SQL, data persistence, and query optimization.
• Write clean, maintainable, testable code and create automated unit and integration tests.
• Collaborate with Technical Leads, Product Owners, Business Analysts, Architects, QA engineers, and development teams in an Agile environment.
• Troubleshoot defects, performance issues, and production incidents while contributing to monitoring, observability, deployment, testing, and release activities.

Requirements

• Strong hands-on Java development experience and knowledge of object-oriented programming principles.
• Experience with Java/Jakarta EE, JPA/Hibernate, and Maven-based applications.
• Experience building and consuming RESTful APIs.
• Working knowledge of Oracle databases, SQL, and data persistence concepts.
• Understanding of software design principles, design patterns, and clean coding practices.
• Experience with automated testing using frameworks such as JUnit and Mockito.
• Familiarity with source control systems and collaborative development workflows.
• Strong problem-solving skills, including the ability to analyze complex technical issues.
• Ability to work effectively in Agile development teams, communicate well, collaborate, and work across backend and frontend domains in a full-stack capacity.

Nice to have

• Experience with JBoss EAP, WildFly, or other enterprise Java application servers.
• Familiarity with OpenAPI Generator, REST API design, and contract-first development.
• Experience with SOAP/JAX-WS, Apache CXF, or enterprise integration technologies.
• Exposure to messaging platforms and JMS-based solutions.
• Experience with Splunk, OpenTelemetry, or application monitoring solutions.
• Familiarity with integration testing frameworks such as Kotest or Ktor.
• Exposure to Docker-based local development environments.
