What you will do

• Build, maintain, and scale backend services and Kafka-based streaming pipelines processing user behavior data across AWS.
• Design microservices and APIs exposing user segments and behavioral models to classic UI and agentic product surfaces.
• Transform behavioral signals into segments and models used across the platform.
• Use and evaluate AI coding assistants and agents for code generation, review, troubleshooting, and team adoption.
• Participate in architecture discussions, deploy, roll back, operate software, and take part in on-call support.
• Automate manual operational processes and contribute to engineering communities of practice through constructive, service-level-aware feedback.

Requirements

• Fully proficient in Java, with the ability to design, develop, test, and deploy small-to-medium features and bug fixes end-to-end with little or no assistance.
• Experience building Kafka-based streaming pipelines and services in AWS production environments.
• Experience with distributed systems, concurrency, scaling, and asynchronous programming techniques including streams, event-based flows, task queues, and message queues.
• Active day-to-day experience using AI coding assistants and agents, with a mindset of continuous workflow innovation.
• Collaborative working style, including colleagues in important decisions and supporting shared code ownership.
• Comfort navigating ambiguity with an iterative mindset and aligning daily work with broader strategic and architectural direction.
• Proficiency in English.

Nice to have

• Experience designing GraphQL APIs or microservices architectures at scale.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes concepts and production behavior.
• Experience with distributed cloud data processing using Spark, Hadoop/Hive, BigQuery, Snowflake, or Redshift, or with ETL/orchestration tools such as Airflow.
• Strong understanding of data modeling principles, including dimensional modeling and normalization, especially for behavioral or user segmentation data.
• Experience evaluating, benchmarking, or building custom agentic AI tools, prompt workflows, or developer automation.
• Exposure to recommendation systems or building context for agentic and LLM-based experiences.
• Open source contributions or a passion for build and test automation.
• Experience with SQL performance tuning or data visualization tools such as Tableau or Looker.
