Forward Deployed Engineer (AI)

Location: Remote, United Kingdom; willingness to travel to customer sites as needed, up to approximately 50%

What you will do

• Work with Solutions Consultants and Account Executives on strategic accounts and new opportunities.
• Own discovery, technical scoping, architecture, implementation, evaluation, productionization, adoption, and handoff for customer solutions.
• Build, deploy, and evaluate prototypes and production solutions using customer data, measuring adoption, workflow impact, reliability, and time-to-value.
• Engineer production solutions for security, reliability, observability, maintainability, and integration with customer architectures.
• Partner with Product and R&D to convert validated customer patterns into roadmap investments, reusable components, accelerators, and platform improvements.
• Develop and continuously update solution specifications with customers while evaluating business potential, market needs, competitive differentiation, and technical requirements.

Requirements

• Customer-facing and commercial ability, including technical discovery, value conversations with technical and business stakeholders, and connecting solutions to customer outcomes and deal value.
• Ability to abstract customer-specific work into reusable accelerators.
• AI and agentic engineering experience, including LLM application development, RAG, prompt and context engineering, agent orchestration, single- versus multi-agent patterns, and memory and state management; modern AI coding tools such as Claude Code should be used as daily practice.
• Familiarity with enterprise integrations in regulated utility markets, including ESRI ArcGIS or Smallworld, IBM Maximo or EAM, SAP or Oracle ERP or PPM, PowerBI or reporting systems, REST and streaming APIs, authentication patterns, and systems-of-record integration.
• Domain experience in asset-intensive industries such as utilities, energy, or transportation, or in capital and asset investment planning is a strong plus rather than a gate.
• Willingness to travel to customer sites as needed, up to approximately 50%.

Nice to have

• Software or data engineering background with shipped, maintainable software; fluency in Angular, Python, or a similar language; and comfort working in unfamiliar languages and codebases.
• Understanding of SQL, data modeling, and pipelines for ingestion, transformation, and serving, with strong debugging skills for imperfect customer data in live environments.
• Depth in production engineering, including observability, performance, and operating at scale.
• Experience in customer-facing technical work, solutions engineering, forward deployment, technical consulting, or a startup environment involving multiple responsibilities.
• Prior experience deploying AI in enterprise or regulated environments.
