Forward Deployed Engineer (AI)

Location: Remote; must be located in Canada or the US. Travel may be required up to 50%.

What you will do

• Own customer solutions end-to-end, rapidly prototyping, iterating, and deploying solutions in live operational environments.
• Build trusted relationships from individual contributors to executive sponsors and serve as the technical face of hirify.global.
• Manage multiple customer engagements in parallel, set expectations, adapt to changing conditions, and own outcomes.
• Work in a self-directed, multidisciplinary POD team and trade tasks based on the skills required.
• Partner with Product and Engineering to turn field learnings into durable platform capabilities rather than one-off scripts.
• Mentor customer operators and guide teams through solution transitions and adoption.

Requirements

• Hands-on experience building LLM-based applications, RAG systems, multi-agent workflows, tool-use patterns, and prompt and context engineering.
• Daily familiarity with AI-assisted development tools such as Copilot, Claude Code, or agentic IDE workflows.
• Understanding of agentic orchestration, including single-agent versus multi-agent architectures and memory and state handling.
• Solid software engineering fundamentals and experience building and shipping real systems.
• Proficiency in at least one backend language, with Python strongly preferred, and the ability to contribute across a polyglot codebase.
• Experience with REST and streaming APIs, authentication patterns, and enterprise-system integrations.
• Ability to build and maintain data pipelines for ingestion, transformation, serving, and monitoring using Airflow, Kafka, dbt, or equivalent tools.
• Working familiarity with modern data platforms such as Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery, or similar, including data modeling and performance fundamentals.
• Strong debugging skills with imperfect, real-world data in production environments.
• 2–5 years of professional experience in software engineering, data engineering, solutions engineering, or a technical-founder role.
• Clear written and verbal communication across engineering, product, and business stakeholders.
• Ability to travel as required, up to 50%.

Nice to have

• Prior exposure to supply chain planning, logistics, or operations domains.
• Experience in customer-facing technical roles such as solutions engineering, forward deployment, or technical consulting, or experience at a startup where multiple responsibilities were handled.
