Software Engineer III - Sensor Dev Tooling, STaRQ (Hybrid) (Python/C++)

Location: Hybrid, requiring 2 days per week onsite in Redmond, Washington, Austin, Texas, or Sunnyvale, California, USA.

Base salary: $120,000–$180,000 per year, with eligibility for bonuses, equity grants, and benefits.

What you will do

• Build production-grade systems supporting sensor development across Windows, Linux, and macOS.
• Architect test and release infrastructure for dependency management and fast, reliable builds at scale.
• Design developer-facing APIs and tools that abstract platform complexity and improve feature velocity.
• Engineer CI systems that provide fast feedback and support confident, frequent merges.
• Identify bottlenecks, prototype solutions, and ship improvements that measurably increase developer productivity.
• Collaborate with sensor teams to understand workflows and build tools that improve their effectiveness.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience building production systems, with a focus on platform engineering, test frameworks, developer tools, or systems programming.
• Extensive Python expertise.
• Experience with cross-platform development involving Windows, Linux, and macOS differences.
• Experience with test frameworks, including making them robust, reliable, backwards compatible, and functional across platforms.
• Ability to collaborate with distributed teams and translate needs into technical solutions.
• Experience with GenAI-assisted development workflows or building AI-powered developer tools.
• Proven experience using AI technologies to improve decision-making, streamline workflows and processes, increase efficiency, and drive business outcomes.

Nice to have

• C/C++ experience for low-level system integration.
• Experience with CI platform architecture, such as Jenkins or GitHub Actions, at scale.
• A track record of measurably improving developer productivity, such as reducing build times or eliminating cross-platform bugs before merge.
