Platform Engineer (Cloud)

Location: San Antonio, Texas, United States; hybrid work with an average of 2 days per week in the San Antonio office

Salary: $97,097–$135,000 per year

What you will do

• Integrate, enhance, optimize, and increase the robustness of existing codebases.
• Define, build, and manage virtual infrastructure in AWS using infrastructure-as-code practices.
• Design and implement core software architecture and capabilities from prototype through operational applications.
• Develop custom software components and integrate open-source code to solve complex big data and cloud problems.
• Identify and troubleshoot complex infrastructure and software issues while working toward broader architectural goals.

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship is required. A current U.S. Government security clearance is not required at hire, but a Secret clearance will be processed.
• 5+ years of Platform Engineering or Software Development experience with a related bachelor's degree, or equivalent experience through a master's degree or high school diploma.
• Professional experience with AWS infrastructure development and deployment.
• Experience with Kubernetes or a vendor distribution of Kubernetes.
• Strong knowledge of Linux systems, hosts, networks, security, and applications, including Shell/Bash scripting.
• Ability to work in a hybrid environment with an average of 2 days per week in the San Antonio office.

Nice to have

• Experience with DISA's Big Data Platform or other Hadoop-based big data systems.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and tools such as GitLab CI, Travis CI, or Jenkins.
• Understanding of agile development methodologies and tools such as Jira, Confluence, GitHub, or GitLab.
• Experience with Puppet, Ansible, Maven, virtualization, or related platforms.
• DoD 8140 / 8570 IAT Level II compliance certifications.
