Platform Engineer (AWS)

Location: Hybrid in San Antonio, Texas, United States; average of 2 days per week at the San Antonio office. U.S. citizenship is required, and a Secret-level U.S. Government security clearance will be processed.

Salary: $97,097–$135,000 per year, with possible additional non-recurrent compensation.

What you will do

• Enhance, optimize, and increase the robustness of existing code bases as a systems integrator.
• Define, build, and manage virtual cloud infrastructure using infrastructure-as-code tools.
• Design and implement core software architecture and capabilities from prototype through operational applications.
• Develop custom software components and integrate open-source code to solve complex Big Data and cloud problems.
• Identify and troubleshoot complex issues autonomously while working toward strategic goals set by architects.

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship is required; a current U.S. Government security clearance is not required at start, but a Secret-level clearance will be processed.
• 5+ years of Platform Engineering or Software Development experience with Python or Go and a bachelor’s degree in a related field; or 3 years of relevant experience with a master’s degree; or a high school diploma or equivalent and 9 years of relevant experience.
• Experience developing and deploying infrastructure in AWS.
• Experience with Kubernetes or a vendor version of Kubernetes.
• Solid understanding of Linux systems, hosts, networks, security, and applications, plus proficiency in Shell/Bash scripting.
• Excellent problem-solving skills, including the ability to identify and troubleshoot complex issues.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to work in a hybrid environment, spending an average of 2 days per week at the San Antonio office, with flexibility to adapt to schedule changes.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with DISA’s Big Data Platform or other Big Data systems such as Cloudera’s Distribution of Hadoop, Hortonworks Data Platform, or MapR.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines such as GitLab CI, Travis CI, or Jenkins.
• Understanding of agile software development methodologies and standard development tools such as JIRA, Confluence, GitHub, or GitLab.
• Experience with Puppet, Ansible, Maven, and virtualization technologies such as oVirt, Proxmox, or VMware.
• DoD 8140 / 8570 IAT Level II compliance certifications may be required as directed by the customer.
