Full-Stack Engineer 4 (Python, Vue, Node, AWS)

Location: On-site in McLean, VA, US; salary ranges are also listed for Plano, TX and Richmond, VA.

Salary: $197,300–$225,100 per year in McLean, VA; $179,400–$204,700 per year in Plano, TX or Richmond, VA. The role may also include performance-based incentive compensation.

What you will do

• Lead diverse technology projects and guide developers building distributed microservices and full-stack systems for regulatory needs.
• Collaborate with digital product managers and architects to deliver cloud-based solutions, define service boundaries, integration patterns, and reusable frameworks.
• Use Java, Scala, Python, Go, Node.js, JavaScript, TypeScript, relational and NoSQL databases, Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS services.
• Provide technical leadership across Agile teams and establish standards for design, development, and operational excellence.
• Identify improvement opportunities, perform targeted refactoring, reduce technical debt, and improve system performance.
• Evaluate emerging tools and practices and influence long-term technology strategy in a “you build it, you own it” environment.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or a related quantitative field, including Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Analytics, Mathematics, or Engineering.
• At least 4 years of professional software engineering experience; internship experience does not apply.
• At least 2 years of experience with public cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure, cloud-based productivity tools, or virtualization technologies.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• 7+ years coding with more than two of JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, Vue.js, and Node.js, plus 3+ years with databases and database management systems.
• 3+ years with AWS, GCP, Azure, cloud-based productivity tools, or virtualization technologies.
• 4+ years contributing to open-source frameworks.
• 3+ years with frontend JavaScript, TypeScript, or React frameworks; synchronous and asynchronous APIs; CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, and automated testing frameworks; Git-based version control; and troubleshooting cloud environments.
• Experience with AI-based coding tools, IDE copilots, and interactive AI tooling beyond basic code completion.
• 1+ year mentoring engineers and driving professional development, plus 1+ year using observability to identify and optimize distributed-system performance bottlenecks.
• Experience leading cross-functional engineering efforts or large-scale technical initiatives and enforcing coding standards and design patterns across teams.
