Computing HW Engineer (Semiconductor)

Location: Rehovot, Israel; travel required up to 10% of the time.

What you will do

• Translate R&D high-level computing requirements into hardware specifications for dedicated semiconductor tool platforms.
• Evaluate vendors and define CPU, memory, storage, RAID, networking, and GPU or AI accelerator configurations.
• Lead vendor engagement, including RFQs, technical reviews, and platform customization discussions.
• Drive the NPI review cycle from Kickoff through PDR, CDR, DVR, FDR, and ECO, including BOM control and technical documentation.
• Plan and execute performance, stress, thermal, compatibility, and hardware validation activities.
• Transfer validated platforms to manufacturing and coordinate with R&D, software, procurement, manufacturing, external integrators, and customer sites.

Requirements

• BSc or BA in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related technical field.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience with computing hardware platforms, including x86 server architecture, CPU, memory, storage, RAID, networking hardware, and GPU or accelerator integration.
• Experience defining hardware specifications from functional requirements and translating software workload descriptions into server configuration decisions.
• Experience engaging computing hardware vendors, evaluating platforms, understanding vendor roadmaps, and customizing off-the-shelf configurations.
• Familiarity with structured engineering processes such as PDR/CDR or equivalent design review gates in hardware development or productization.
• Strong BOM management discipline and experience maintaining configuration-controlled hardware specifications.
• Fluent written and verbal English is required for vendor engagement, cross-site collaboration, and technical documentation.
• Structured and analytical technical decision-making skills, including presenting hardware tradeoff analyses to engineering and management audiences.

Nice to have

• Experience in semiconductor equipment, defense computing systems, data center engineering, or high-tech industrial computing.
• Experience integrating NVIDIA, AMD, or Intel Gaudi GPUs and AI accelerators into server platforms.
• Familiarity with TeamCenter, Agile PLM, or equivalent PLM and BOM management tools.
• Technical background in computing, communications, intelligence systems, or airborne computing.
• Experience with hardware qualification and validation methods, including performance, thermal, and reliability testing.
• Exposure to manufacturing transfer and production ramp activities for hardware products.
